Most Charming Reservoirs in LA

Silver Lake Reservoir

Silver Lake Reservoir

Silver Lake has become known as the hipster capital of Los Angeles. The twin reservoirs that give the community its name, Silver Lake Reservoir, offers a popular 2.25-mile loop for joggers and walkers. With a crushed granite surface, the path is a solid 7k run after two times around. Silver Lake's Reservoir, a 114-acre site, has two dog parks (big and small), a basketball court, and a playground.

The Silver Lake Reservoir Pedestrian Path was completed in December 2008 as the first phase of improvements from the Silver Lake Reservoir Master Plan. At the top, you will be treated to views off to the left of the Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory.

Silver Lake Dog Park is the hipster dog park of Los Angeles’ east side with fenced, off-leash areas for small and large dogs, 1.25 acres. There are water drinking fountains for your pooch in each area.

Silver Lake Meadow, a 2.5-acre passive park on the east side of the lake featuring tranquil planting, open space, and expansive views is a relatively new green space great for lounging and picnicking. In season, you can see great blue herons nesting in the eucalyptus trees.

Silver Lake Recreation Center offers a gymnasium, play structures, grassy lawns, and basketball court, and the area’s big, busy dog park.
