The southern end of Venice is home to the 1,300 foot Venice Pier and an upscale area known to locals as Washington Square. The Venice Pier, built in 1963, is fully accessible, with lights, benches, fish-cleaning stations, a 120-foot diameter circular end, and special cutouts for fishing and wheelchairs. Venice Pier Beach is popular with surfers who tend to catch waves nearest the pier. The Venice Breakwater is an acclaimed local surf spot in Venice. A paved bike path also takes off north from the pier on the beach offering a bicycle route to Santa Monica. Volleyball courts are available not far from the parking lot at the pier.

The Jazz Singer
In the story Jolson lived in a beach house near the Venice Pier since they filmed numerous scenes at a beach front home several blocks north of the Venice Fishing Pier.

The Big Fix
Richard Dreyfuss plays detective Moses Wine, a nice guy who sings his kids to sleep over the phone. His ex-wife goes out with a BEST trainer. Moses Wine pursues the villain to a house in the canal district, #451 on some street, which turns out to be boarded up. There are scenes at the Israel Levin Senior Adult Center, the boardwalk, and a pier, which one I'm not sure.

Falling Down
Douglas' girlfriend lives on a side street off the Boardwalk. And at the end of the movie, when policeman Duvall corners the psychotic defense worker Douglas on the Venice fishing pier at Washington St., leaps off the pier into the Pacific Ocean and drowns.
