Designed by Los Angeles architect Charles F. Plummer to reflect an Italian Renaissance Revival aesthetic, Casa del Mar retains its Jazz Age sophistication with a vibrant Spanish-Moorish lobby and impeccable décor. Hotel Casa Del Mar is one of only two hotels with a coveted stretch of sandy Santa Monica Beach and unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean. Complete with a Hollywood bar scene, the popular Catch restaurant, an eco-minded Sea Wellness Spa, and a guest-only Palm Terrace Pool with beach views, the 146 opulent rooms feature Italian linens, huge hydrotherapy tubs, and fun touches like rubber ducks. The Catch seafood restaurant offers ocean-view dining, a sushi bar, and cabana-style seating in the adjacent Terrazza Lounge.
Inspired by the grand villas of the Mediterranean, this elegant A-list retreat is known for its breath-taking ocean views and the Santa Monica Pier’s colorful Ferris wheel twirling in the distance. Enjoy a stroll on the Strand walking path, yoga on the beach, a workout at the fitness center, or access to daily classes including yoga, Beach Boot Camp, Pilates, and more.
Hotel Casa del Mar is adjacent to the historic Santa Monica Pier and the Third Street Promenade. Indulge in upscale shopping and dining areas on Main Street and Montana Avenue. Rejuvenate on expansive ocean panoramas of cliff-top Palisades Park.
Legendary hotels attract legendary people, and Hotel Casa Del Mar is no exception. It’s no wonder that A-list celebrities have graced the halls of this luxurious seaside hotel over the years. Rumored celebrity sightings at Hotel Casa Del Mar include Marilyn Monroe, Oprah, and Jennifer Aniston.
Decorated with plush oriental rugs, hand-tiled Spanish floors, and elaborate bronze statues, the club took off as the most opulent and exclusive destination on the Santa Monica Coast, hosting the elite Hollywood starlets and silent film actors like Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, and Greta Garbo. The posh parties and social starlet gatherings raged on for many years, catering to the city’s elite. At its peak, the club had around 2,000 members.
Originally built in 1926 as the grandest of the opulent beach club hotels and the premier playground for Hollywood A-listers. Illegal prohibition booze flowed freely at Club Casa Del Mar and business executives gambled at the illegal slot machines and horse betting circles upstairs.
