Hidden in the mountains, Lake Hollywood Park overlooks Lake Hollywood, also known as Hollywood Reservoir, surrounded by a chain-link fence and bordered by a 3.3-mile paved loop.
Built-in 1924 by William Mulholland, the reservoir is held by the Mulholland Dam. There is a sense of early 21st-century design in the dam that makes Hollywood older than it looks.
This is the perfect place to snap a picture of the Hollywood Sign, a landmark that has been around since 1923. when the sign was originally erected it said, “Hollywoodland” and was changed to, "Hollywood" in 1978 during a restoration that was sponsored by several celebrities.
Hollywood Reservoir, also known as Lake Hollywood, offers limited parking options for visitors seeking to enjoy its scenic beauty and serene walking trails. Street parking is available along the perimeter of the reservoir, particularly on Lake Hollywood Drive, but spaces can fill up quickly, especially on weekends and holidays. Be mindful of posted parking signs to avoid fines, as some areas may have restrictions. For those planning a visit, arriving early is recommended to secure a spot and enjoy a peaceful walk with stunning views of the Hollywood Sign and the surrounding hills.
