The TCL Chinese Theatre, located on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, is a world-renowned landmark that has been home to countless film premieres, events, and ceremonies since it opened in 1927. One of the unique features of the TCL Chinese Theatre is the forecourt, which is adorned with concrete blocks bearing the handprints, footprints, and signatures of famous movie personalities from the 1920s to the present day. Some of the most famous prints include those of Humphrey Bogart, Cary Grant, Ava Gardner, Elizabeth Taylor, Doris Day, Paul Newman, and Frank Sinatra.
Over the years, the theater has undergone several name changes. Originally called Grauman's Chinese Theatre, it was renamed Mann's Chinese Theatre in 1973. However, it reverted to its original name in 2001. In 2013, Chinese electronics manufacturer TCL Corporation purchased the naming rights to the facility, and it became the TCL Chinese Theatre.
In the same year, the theater partnered with IMAX Corporation to convert the house into a custom-designed IMAX theater, making it one of the most advanced and state-of-the-art cinemas in the world. The newly renovated theater now seats 932 people and boasts one of the largest movie screens in North America.
